For Controllers

ABSC maintains the licenses and registrations required to conduct collection and recovery activities in jurisdictions where such licensing is mandated. All applicable licensing applications and renewals are managed in accordance with the laws, regulations, and requirements of the respective jurisdictions.
Our affiliated counsel maintain appropriate bar admissions and professional credentials within the jurisdictions in which they practice. This legal network, combined with ABSC’s investigative and recovery resources, enables us to support collection activities throughout all 50 states, U.S. territories, Mexico, Canada, and other selected international jurisdictions, subject to applicable local laws and regulatory requirements.
ABSC is committed to maintaining the appropriate regulatory standards necessary to provide clients with a professional, compliant, and nationally coordinated recovery operation.
Licensing & Regulatory Compliance

ABSC maintains its corporate headquarters in Ohio, supported by satellite offices and affiliated resources throughout the United States.
The corporate office serves as the central administrative and operational hub for the organization. National administrative functions, in-house pre-litigation recovery, claims management, and investigative coordination are managed through the corporate office to ensure consistency, accountability, and centralized oversight.
Satellite offices and affiliated resources are utilized strategically to support client accounts, facilitate local investigations, and provide jurisdiction-specific assistance when required.
This centralized operating structure allows ABSC to maintain consistent national standards while providing localized resources and jurisdiction-specific capabilities wherever a client account requires them.
Locations & National Operations

Approximately 99% of ABSC’s revenue is derived directly from contingency-fee-based collections and related litigation services. This structure aligns our financial interests with those of our clients and reinforces our commitment to achieving successful recoveries while maintaining an efficient and disciplined approach to each claim.

Collection Strategies
Upon receipt of a claim, ABSC initiates immediate contact with the responsible party by telephone in an effort to achieve an efficient and voluntary resolution. When immediate resolution is not obtained, ABSC may initiate a comprehensive investigation into the debtor’s business, financial condition, assets, ownership, and overall ability to satisfy the obligation.
When warranted, investigative efforts may include direct or telephonic contact with insurance representatives and adjusters, witnesses, local authorities, bonding agents, creditors, landlords, banking references, vendors, competitors, credit reporting services, and appropriate state agencies, including Secretaries of State offices. These efforts are intended to verify information, identify relevant assets or resources, and develop a comprehensive understanding of the debtor’s circumstances.
Our primary objective is always to obtain voluntary resolution. If the account remains unpaid or the debtor fails to satisfy the client’s requirements, ABSC may, when authorized by the client, promptly proceed with an intensive pre-litigation investigation and recovery strategy.
Where legally permissible and contractually applicable, ABSC will pursue available contractual or statutory remedies, including applicable late charges, continuing interest, attorneys’ fees, and other recoverable amounts, without requiring the account to be transferred to a separate collection entity for those efforts.
ABSC organizes accounts according to industry, account characteristics, complexity, jurisdiction, nationality, account size, and the specialized experience of the assigned recovery professional. This allows files to be directed to personnel with the most appropriate knowledge and experience for the circumstances presented.
Our management structure is designed to provide close oversight while maintaining operational capacity, with an approximate supervisor-to-assistant ratio of 1:7. Under the current office structure, each legal assistant or investigator is capable of managing a substantial portfolio of accounts while maintaining individualized attention to the recovery process.
ABSC recognizes that successful recovery frequently requires more than routine collection activity. Complex or sensitive claims may require extensive research, investigative analysis, and the development of a customized recovery strategy. Our experience allows us to identify the appropriate course of action efficiently and apply the resources necessary to maximize the client’s net recovery.

ABSC does not charge upfront, non-contingent legal fees for the initiation of suit.

When litigation is authorized, court filing and service expenses are advanced as applicable and billed at the actual cost incurred, together with a $100 administrative fee for matters within the 50 states. International matters are subject to a minimum administrative charge of $500, in addition to applicable third-party costs.

Any unused portion of advanced litigation costs will be returned to the client.
Legal Costs

Attorney fees recovered from the debtor, to the extent permitted and subject to the applicable fee arrangement, will be remitted to the client up to the amount of the applicable contingency fee.
Attorney Fees

ABSC utilizes current electronic databases and investigative resources to obtain relevant information for skip tracing and asset identification. Investigative research may include national credit bureau information, real estate holdings, UCC filings, corporate records, and other financial and public-record information relevant to the recovery process.
When legally appropriate and authorized, investigations may also include obtaining books, records, driver's license information, motor vehicle registration records, and other relevant documentation through available legal processes.
Our national skip-tracing capabilities are supported by a network of public and private information sources, investigative professionals, and affiliated resources. These capabilities enable ABSC to locate responsible parties, verify information, identify potential assets, and develop actionable intelligence in support of recovery efforts.
Skip Tracing & Asset Investigation

Specially trained legal liaisons provide day-to-day monitoring, coordination, and claims management for accounts requiring legal attention. Through ABSC’s nationwide attorney network, legal matters may be managed across all 50 states and selected foreign jurisdictions by qualified counsel familiar with the applicable local laws and procedures.
Where outside counsel is engaged, ABSC coordinates and monitors the matter to maintain continuity of the recovery strategy and provide the client with a centralized point of contact. This structure allows clients to benefit from ABSC’s commercial collection and litigation experience without assuming the labor-intensive responsibility of managing individual legal files.
All litigation-related costs are monitored closely. Costs advanced by the client are accounted for throughout the process and, when recovered from the debtor, are returned to the client from the first funds recovered, subject to the applicable agreement and recovery.
Before recommending litigation, ABSC develops a financial and recovery profile on the debtor. When the investigation indicates a viable opportunity for recovery, the debtor is generally provided another opportunity to resolve the obligation voluntarily.
If the debtor remains unwilling or unable to resolve the matter, ABSC evaluates the legal basis for litigation, the available evidence, the financial viability of the debtor, and the anticipated cost-benefit of proceeding. When litigation appears appropriate, the client is consulted and authorization is obtained before suit is commenced.
If the investigation produces an unfavorable financial profile or otherwise indicates that litigation is unlikely to produce a meaningful recovery, ABSC will provide the client with the available information and, when appropriate, recommend against pursuing litigation.
Throughout the litigation process, the client receives appropriate updates and is consulted regarding significant developments and strategic decisions. In contract-based actions where appropriate, ABSC and counsel may pursue expedited resolution through available procedural mechanisms, including default judgment and summary judgment, when supported by the facts and applicable law.

Legal Accounts & Litigation Management

ABSC maintains a professional and disciplined approach to debtor communications and recovery activity. Our objective is to pursue legitimate claims firmly while conducting all communications in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.
All debtor complaints are treated seriously and are subject to appropriate internal review. Upon receipt of a complaint, ABSC will investigate the circumstances, determine the underlying facts, and take appropriate corrective action when warranted.
Our commitment to professionalism, accountability, and compliance is intended to protect both ABSC and the reputation of our clients throughout the recovery process.
Debtor Complaints

ABSC seeks to recruit and retain professionals who demonstrate integrity, intelligence, adaptability, sound judgment, and consistently strong performance. Personnel are selected through professional referrals, industry relationships, and other vetted sources.
Our hiring and vetting practices are designed to maintain a capable and stable workforce while supporting a high standard of professionalism throughout the organization.
Continuing education is an integral component of ABSC’s operations. Collection personnel receive ongoing training regarding the ethical and regulatory requirements governing the recovery industry, as well as the policies and procedures necessary to conduct collection activity appropriately and professionally.

Training also encompasses the proper preparation and use of collection documentation, forms, pleadings, and related legal materials, together with a practical understanding of general civil litigation procedures and the requirements applicable to different jurisdictions.
Because laws, regulations, litigation procedures, and industry standards continue to evolve, ABSC views professional education as an ongoing process rather than a one-time requirement. Our commitment to continued training helps ensure that personnel remain informed, adaptable, and prepared to manage increasingly complex recovery matters.
