Upon receipt of a claim, we immediately contact the responsible party by telephone and attempt to resolve the matter. If there is no expedient resolution, an in-depth investigation into the debtor's affairs is initiated to determine the viability of the entity responsible for the debt. During this process we may physically or telephonically contact insurance representatives or adjusters, witnesses, local authorities, bonding agents, creditors, landlords, listed banking references, vendors, competitors, credit reporting services or state offices such as the Secretary of State to verify and extract information.

Our primary strategy is to persuade the debtor to resolve the issue and if the account is not paid to the client’s satisfaction, we will swiftly proceed with an intense pre-litigation investigation (when warranted and authorized by the client). If arrangements are not immediate we will pursue all tariff and code penalties, late charges, continuing interest and attorneys fees without having to transfer the account to another entity for that process. The majority of collections from a particular industry group are usually assigned to legal assistants versed in that area.

Files are distributed to legal assistants/investigators on the basis of the industry group, expertise, nationality, size of account, etc. Our ratio of supervisors to assistants is 1/7. Each assistant has the capability of handling 250 accounts under the current office format. The understanding of our strengths and responding in an expeditious manner are two of many areas where ABSC excel and is key to increasing our client’s net dollars recovered. Often times, a great deal of research has to be undertaken to align the appropriate plan to handle delicate recovery issues. Fortunately this has been done by ABSC and the analysis is supported by the result.
